Coming into the opening circle of the 2017 CAMS Australian Endurance Championship for Victoria’s Phillip Island, the new M-Motorsport Interlloy/Wilson Storage area Lamborghini partnership of Glen Timber and Peter Main were full of assurance ahead of the 500-kilometre journey about the iconic coastal circuit, and they had every single right to be given their particular credentials in the Reiter Engineering-built product.
Major had been one of the snippets of the Australian Gt bike ‘sprint’ season, running at the cab end of that championship, even though Wood showed superb speed in the #48 Gallardo inside season 2017 alongside team-boss Justin McMillan, before starring inside KTM X-Bow on the GT4 car’s first appearance at Bathurst earlier this year.
After qualifying on the final row for the 103-lap voyage, the #48 car appeared to be well placed at the mid-point of the race, having relocated as high as sixth put ahead of the first imperative pit stop, employment they maintained in the second stop to be within reach of the politicians.
Sadly, despite being within sight of a base finish, an electrical disaster on a sensor shortly after saw them back during pit lane and eventually retirement after a misfire coded in the engine resulting from the issue.
“We were right where we wanted to be,” McMillan explained afterwards. “There wasn’t any pressure, the management weren’t far ahead of time and we were being seated comfortably with together Glen and Peter wanting to charge across its final stints but unfortunately many people never had the chance.

“In all these modern day supercars, electrical gremlins are your biggest nightmare, these are difficult to trace which enable it to often cost you insurmountable time in pit isle. The problem with a misfire can it be can stress the serps, but on top of that it may also escalate to the generator management system turning off the engine, and therefore can have bigger significance in a field for cars travelling during close to 270kph so the exclusively thing we could complete was park the auto and lament what happens to be.”
The second round within the Endurance Series is certainly scheduled for Melbourne Motorsport Park in mid-August (18-20) where the M-Motorsport team will be looking to carry their impressive race pace by way of valuable championship details as they continue to send the flag regarding Interlloy and Wilson Storage.
For the actual M-Motorsport team, the next determination is Adelaide’s Mallala Raceway this Mon (5 June) for an all-important drive day for partners and associates, with passengers taken care of to a ride inside the exciting new KTM X-Bow GT4, the actual car which centered this year’s Bathurst 12-Hour on Install Panorama.
