GM has been allowing Corvettes fans to come out towards the Bowling Green manufacturing facility and watch as their car or truck gets built in addition to giving tours for a time now. Word is the fact those tours happen to be mysteriously cancelled for an additional 18 months. This has triggered some rumors the fact that factory might be around retooling mode for a rumored new Corvette.

GM has told you that the stopping with tours is so the plant can undergo “substantial work” leading to the drastic new Corvette unit rumors. There have been speculation flying for a while which will GM is focusing on a mid-engine Corvette. Different rumors have suggested that GM might be retooling the powertrain area to assist a new 6.2L DOHC V8 which was tipped.

Test cars are considered at famous competition tracks Laguna Seca and Nurburgring dressed in heavy camo in addition to wearing aero bits possibly not seen on any current Corvette. That particular car lapping those two famous tracks had a great exhaust note that is claimed to sound not like anything a Corvettes has made in the past.
