Audi Hong Kong’s Jasper Thong has converted his maiden TCR Asia Line pole position that will Audi’s first ever victory while using all-new Audi RS3 LMS TCR at China’s Zhuhai World today, the 17-year ancient leading from beginning to end with a mature demonstrate of driving regardless of some immense strain from behind.
“I’m actually happy to be able to characterize Audi Hong Kong and consider the stunning new Audi RS3 LMS TCR to it’s very first victory in TCR,In . Thong admitted post rush wearing a smile the guy couldn’t disguise. “I are unable to thank Marchy, Rene, my dad and mom, the team and all my very own supporters enough for giving me that incredible opportunity. Marchy was initially incredible, he’s such a great mentor and hubby was able to give me really wise counsel on the amount I should do in which allowed me to only focus on the job in front of you.”
For Lee, who is contesting just his second affair with the new Audi RS3 LMS TCR, he was fascinated with his young charge and pleased to are able to present Audi with concerting their first pole position when using the new car, recommended to their first ever victory.
“Jasper i had a long chitchat before the race and i also told him the guy needed to focus, not to worry so much about what was happening at the rear of and to be consistent, using this program . please to say they did just that. He / she withstood a lot of pressure with behind, and I was not sure coming into the very last lap whether yet be able to withstand it all, but he drove with great maturity to give us this victory. That said, it’s only one race, strangely now is to stay out of trouble starting from seven on the grid for race two [the major eight qualifiers are upside down for the start of rush two] to gain as many details as possible and focus about the championship. We’ve checked two boxes, at this point lets go for the last!”
Despite two less than great starts during the time of year opener in Malaysia, Thong crafted the perfect getaway inside Zhuhai, making it to the first place first, then protecting all the way to the green.
He did come under open fire though from Sepang victor Kantadhee Kusiri in a Volkswagen, and then Honda’s Tin Sritrai and finally fellow Audi driver Brian Chen, withstanding all strikes to cross the line merely 15 one hundredths on the second clear of Kusiri.

“I has a great start then had a great grapple with Kusiri,” Thong admitted. “I was initially told not to aim too much on the wall mirrors and what was going on at the rear of me and just pinpoint the job ahead of everyone. On the last panel I knew I needed the inside run after he / she tried to pull next to and I just kept my ground.”
Unfortunately intended for Thing’s high-profile team-mate Alex Fong the result weren’t everything he had ended up hoping for, cold old tyres catching the singer out on the final part, spinning him within retirement, although the guy admitted he do succeed in meeting his or her first goal.
“Goal most important was to complete the race without a symbol on the car, We achieved that,In he laughed. “Sadly goal number two was to full the race i fell a bit short on that one, nevertheless fortunately I have the opportunity to do it all over again this morning during race not one but two, and I’m looking forward to which will!”
Sadly SK Tong too fell wanting completing the race, mid-pack contact on the opening up lap spinning him or her at turn 7, before the resultant deterioration spun him into the gravel the clapboard afterwards and retirement living.
“I had a good start although was squeezed by one of the other motorists and that turned me personally around and performed dame to the right rear,” he explained. “Unfortunately something and then appeared to be out of alignment in the rear and so i spun the next lap and got beached in the tiny rocks, so it was game over from there. I will be back for rush two though and try to build on the good get started we had at Sepang.”
